Welcome

Hi, I'm one of the Admins and reviewers over at www.outpostskaro.com

Its a big friendly place full of Doctor Who fans. ( but nice ones that don't foam at the mouth)

I've been looking to do a few DIY projects in the garden.  The main one is to build a gate to replace the wooden one that fell to bits over the last winter.  I'd started out looking for some welding kit and had been asking Marting at advanced welding supplies (a friend had recommended them) about options.  He was helpful about advising what to buy, he's recommended a low cost  Welding Inverter  that should alst a fair while, but he's also impressed by suggested using some of the scrap yards near me to get the bits rather than buying in the metal.  That had never occured but a quick phone showed they'd be got various bits from old fences that might do the trick.  Should be getting the kit next week so I'll try and update these pages with some pictures of the various projects as I complete them.

The website that I run, www.outpostskaro.com, is looking to bring in some more staff. We have been growing for a while and we also have some staff moving on ( we didn't assassinate them no matter what people tell you. Those brakes were waiting to fail!!!! erm... right sorry). Plus every couple of years we try to shake up the staff to keep things fresh. New faces mean new ideas.

If you have ever wanted to review stuff, take part in podcasts, be a forum mod( its a very friendly forum) or even help out tinkering with the back end then this is the perfect time to throw your name into the hat. While we are mainly a doctor who forum we cover a lot of other sci fi and horror content that has a Doctor Who connection. But it would help if you like Doctor Who as we do talk about it a lot.

The only restriction is that you need to become a member. No, I'm not about to ask you to whip our your visa card or give your bank details. Membership is and will always be free and it only takes minutes. Plus it also gives you access to some forum exclusive content like Doctor Who or Torchwood reviews before the show is broadcast.

Actually there is one other restriction, you must be over 18. I know, I know. Doctor Who is a family show. Well we're all big kids on the staff but for legal reasons ( such as signing NDAs and the various data protection laws) we need staff to be over 18.

Well so long and thanks for all the fish. Not for me, no you won't get rid of me that easily.

Long time reviewer, inspiration for the original outpost skaro ( we're into version 2 for anyone keeping count) and interviewer extraordinaire Eddie Mcguigan told me today that he's stepping back for a bit. While he is a much loved part of the community over at OutpostSkaro he's been gradually reducing his role for a while.

Real life is taking it up a few notches for him and he's in for an exciting few years, doing something he really enjoys. Those who know him will know what this is and means but I'm afraid I'll have to be vague ( I don't want to feed the trolls).

Sadly this means less time and something had to give. He'll no doubt drop in from time to time. And I understand that he has one final (HUGE) trick up his sleeve before he wanders off into the sunset, searching for burning skys, smoke people, song cities and unlimited rice pudding.
While recording a recent podcast I was pointed at this. The Seventh Doctor performing the Pandorica speech from S5.

Gives me shivers. Same speach but very much the Sly we know and love. 11 Doc's, all of them great and groovy in their own ways.

Silence before the (oncoming) storm

Not long now till we get most, but not all according to SFX, of the S5-6 plots resolved. We know who River Song is but not who she killed. We know who is in the astronaut suit, or do we? We know the doctor dies, or does he? And what is with the eye patches that everyone now seems to be sporting?

Are they just a way to see the silence without forgetting and if so why are they needed after the moon landing broadcast caused people to attack them on sight?

The clock is ticking and I for one can't wait. This has been on of the strongest seasons of Doctor Who for me, right up there with Season 4. Sure I love them all but each year before has had a couple of weaker episodes but I've enjoyed everything this year. From the Gangers to the Pirates; from the River Song arc to Dark Lord Stormagedan. I can't wait for tonight; bring it on Moff!

Wow, the internet. Its big, its shiny and it does amazing things. Sure it was funded by the noble combo of Military spending and horny dudes p0rn site payments but we now have the ability to view ads from space.

Mmm, bet this makes you hungry

Or make work more interesting

But sadly it has a downside. With my work over at Outpost Skaro I've had the misfortune to see some of the dark side of the internet; an aptly name coward hiding behind the alias Mr Dark. Like most sociopaths he seemed quite nice at first but when he turned nasty it was a 10 on the nasty scale. After a quick vote his ass was booted; problem solved we though.

Nope, like most cockroaches this guy found someplace new to scuttle under and spread his filth. After he got banned from most internet Doctor Who forums ( in some cases several times) he decided it was all one mans fault. Having a hankering for being something in Doctor Who fandom he decided to take down someone who was ( well, in a very minor way): Eddie McGugian. Despite having nothing other than his name to go on Mr Dark has managed to furnish a blog ( copied several times, he likes an echo) that contains any scrap of info he could google on anyone called Eddie McGugian. Plus random stuff as what was there was to wholesome for an attack.

Thankfully his details are way of the mark but its rather disturbing how much effort this one person has put into attacking someone who has wronged him. Its not even a celeb stalker as Eddie, who I've known for years, is just a guy with a day job who does the Dr Who stuff in his spare time. Yeah he's got connections and through him I've personally got to do some fun and cool stuff, as have many others over at outpost skaro (and not just the staff, you should swing past it sometime) . Which makes the fraud allegation from Mr Dark very amusing to me.

Hopefully anyone who stumbles across Mr Darks post will also stumble over this and get a bit of balance. Or they can have look at Eddies blog and judge for themselves whether he's legit or not (if he's managed to fool over 10,000 people then I'm going to get him to start selling timeshare for me)
